Fatal crash in southeast Iowa

A tragic collision occurred on Saturday in southeast Iowa due to winter weather conditions, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two individuals. The accident involved a Lexus Sedan and a Dodge pickup truck along Hemlock Avenue and Cedar Creek. The driver of the Lexus, 18-year-old Emmelia Miller from Fairfield, lost control in the weather, causing the collision. Unfortunately, Miller, who was not wearing a seatbelt, passed away at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, 20-year-old Morgan Anderson, was unharmed, while passengers 26-year-old James Lyman and 24-year-old Ashlyn Hotchkiss sustained injuries. Lyman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to the hospital, but Hotchkiss, who was not belted, did not seek immediate medical attention. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident.
