Fatal crash in Pittsylvania Co. involving a Harley Motorcycle and Toyota Tundra

PITTSYVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a two-vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck, which resulted in a fatality. The crash happened on Sunday, Mar 22 at 5:39 p.m. on Franklin Turnpike, at Beverly Road in Pittsylvania County, VSP says. According to VSP, a 2009 Harley Davidson failed to yield to the right-of-way while making a left turn and was struck by a 2007 Toyota Tundra. State police identified the operator of the Harley Davidson as 63-year-old James Dillard Ley, II, of Danville, Va. VSP says Mr. Ley was wearing a helmet and died enroute to the hospital. According to VSP, the driver of the Toyota was not injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
