Fatal crash in Jefferson County; children in vehicle survive
There was a fatal vehicle accident on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in Jefferson County, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A man from Helena, aged 36, was driving north on I-15 near Boulder and Jefferson City with two children in the vehicle. The vehicle veered off the road after passing slower traffic, struck a guardrail, rolled, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle. Regrettably, he did not have his seat belt on and was found deceased by first responders. The children, who were safely buckled up, sustained minor injuries and were taken to St. Peter’s Health for medical care.
