Fatal crash in Franklin County kills man

A fatal crash in Franklin County on Wednesday is currently under investigation by state troopers. The incident, which took place on Georgia 17 near Cedarlane Drive, involved a 2011 Ford Expedition colliding with a potentially stationary or disabled 2004 Jeep Liberty while heading north on the highway. After hitting the back of the Jeep, the Ford caused the vehicle to overturn. The driver of the Jeep, identified as Thomas Robert Hyde, unfortunately passed away. The driver of the Ford SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries. Poor visibility due to heavy fog is thought to have played a role in the accident, and authorities do not suspect drunk driving. The Georgia State Patrol continues to look into the incident, and no charges have been made as of now.
