Fatal crash closes Route 27 in Montgomery County
A fatal accident involving a single vehicle occurred on Route 27 in Damascus early Sunday morning, resulting in the closure of a section of the road and a significant response from fire and rescue teams. The incident took place at approximately 4 a.m. on Ridge Road near Kings Valley Road, as reported by the police. Emergency responders were alerted to the crash around 4:05 a.m. and promptly arrived at the scene at 24,100 Ridge Road. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue teams attended to a patient with severe injuries, later confirming the fatality. Route 27 was temporarily shut down between Kings Valley Road and Hawkes Road for the investigation, and drivers were advised to find alternate routes. An overturned 2013 Honda Civic coupe was discovered by responders in an embankment, with the adult male driver being the sole occupant who tragically lost his life.
