Fatal crash clears as Interstate 89 north in Bolton reopens
Both lanes of I-89 northbound in Bolton were reopened following a tragic accident. Emergency response crews were called to the scene of a single-car crash just before noon. The car reportedly lost control while trying to avoid a tractor trailer and veered into the median, ultimately colliding with a tree. Two individuals from the car were transported to the hospital, with reports indicating that the passenger succumbed to their injuries. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The affected lane near mile marker 73 was shut down at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Friday, but was reopened around 1:45 p.m. State police later closed one lane for further investigation. Although it was not specified if there were injuries stemming from this subsequent closure, traffic on the southbound side of the interstate was seen stalled at 4:30 p.m., although it remains uncertain if this was linked to the crash inquiry. This is an evolving situation, and NBC5 is actively pursuing additional information for updates.
