Fatal crash claims life of 18-year-old in Christian County

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — An 18-year-old has died following a crash in Christian County on Tuesday, May 19. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, the 18-year-old Springfield man died around 12:22 p.m. on Missouri Route 14 near Delaware Town Road, three miles west of Nixa, on Tuesday. Troopers say the crash occurred as a 20-year-old Republic man was driving the 18-year-old as an occupant when they travelled westbound and hydroplaned, crossing the centerline into eastbound lanes. Officials state the 20-year-old's vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 79-year-old Crane man driving a 2017 Ford Flex with a 67-year-old Crane woman as an occupant. The 18-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene by the Christian County Coroner. MSHP says the Republic man sustained minor injuries, with the Crane residents having moderate injuries. This is the 49th fatality for Troop D in 2026.
