Fatal crash causes traffic congestion on I-275 in Livonia
A deadly accident early Monday morning led to the shutdown of Interstate 275 in the Livonia area, according to information from the Michigan Department of Transportation. Livonia Police Department is currently investigating the crash, which involved a single vehicle. Authorities have revealed that the driver was thrown from the vehicle during the accident. The roadway was blocked due to the crash and the subsequent clean-up efforts on all southbound lanes of I-275 at Six Mile Road in Wayne County. The incident occurred just beyond that area, near Five Mile Road. MDOT's MI Drive map confirms that the entrance ramps from Six Mile Road and Seven Mile Road to southbound I-275 are also inaccessible. In order to navigate around the closure, MDOT suggests motorists drive via Six Mile Road to Farmington Road south to I-96 west. At 9 a.m., the highway remained closed. More information will be shared as it becomes accessible.
