Fatal collision claims life of 71-year-old driver in Harrodsburg

A fatal collision occurred in Mercer County involving two vehicles at the intersection of North College Street and Tapp Road. The incident was reported to Kentucky State Police before 1 p.m. on Friday. Sharon Britton, 71, driving a 2016 Nissan Versa, failed to yield to a traffic control device while heading north on North College Street, causing a collision with a 2017 Lincoln Navigator driven by Jennings Marshall, 79, as he traveled east on Tapp Road. Britton, a resident of Cornishville, was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away due to her injuries; Jennings Marshall, of Harrodsburg, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the same medical center. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
