Fatal car crash injures 3 family members in Greenacres
An 8-year-old child tragically lost their life, and three other family members were seriously injured in a single-car accident that took place on Saturday night, as reported by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on Monday. The incident involved a 2017 Audi QZ being driven by 38-year-old Joel Isaias Leiniz with passengers Zoe Alaya Leiniz, 5, and Espranza Leiniz, 11. Deputies arrived at the scene of the crash at around 9:52 p.m. on South Military Trail near John I. Leonard High School in Greenacres, just west of Palm Springs. The vehicle was driving in the left lane at a high speed, attempted to switch lanes to the right, swerved to avoid another vehicle, and ultimately lost control. The car then collided with a concrete power pole and came to a stop on the sidewalk after rotating around it. The engine of the car caught fire, and all occupants were rushed to the hospital, where the 8-year-old girl was pronounced dead. Out of all the passengers, only the 5-year-old was using a safety restraint.
