Fatal accident: Woman dies after being hit by vehicle in West Virginia
A woman died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning on Interstate 77 in Kanawha County, according to the West Virginia State Police. Troopers with the Turnpike Detachment responded around 6:46 a.m. to the southbound lanes of I-77 near the 95-mile marker following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Investigators said the woman died at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted following the incident. Authorities said the victim has been identified, but her name has not yet been released pending notification of family members. The scene was cleared and both southbound lanes reopened by 9:08 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
