Fatal accident on Route 9 in Cummington leads to road closure
A section of Route 9 in Cummington was shut down because of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles on Monday morning. The Massachusetts State Police were informed of this incident around 9:30 a.m. which included a box truck and a car. There were two individuals in the car, both of whom were injured and brought to the hospital, one by helicopter and the other in an ambulance. Unfortunately, one person has passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. Currently, one lane on the eastbound side of Route 9 is open with traffic control by law enforcement. The road has been reopened according to MassDOT. Various agencies like the Massachusetts State Police, Cummington Police and Fire, and MassDOT were involved in the response to this incident.
