Fatal accident on Downtown Connector; multiple injured

Tragically, a woman lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred early Friday morning on the southbound I-75/85 expressway near University Avenue. Atlanta police responded to the scene at around 2:38 a.m. and discovered several vehicles involved in the incident. The female driver of a Jeep Renegade faced mechanical issues, leading to her vehicle stalling in the middle of the expressway. As she got out of the car, she was unfortunately struck by a Chevrolet Camaro driven by another woman. This initial crash set off a chain reaction involving six more vehicles, including a Toyota Highlander, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Camry, a white BMW, a black Porsche Macan, and a black Yukon. Multiple drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital. The deceased victim's identity has not been disclosed. The Atlanta Police Department's Accident Investigations Unit (AIU) is requesting the public's help in locating video footage related to the fatal accident.
