Fatal accident in Sampson County: Driver ejected, NCSHP reports
A traffic accident in Godwin, North Carolina resulted in the death of a man on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 13 near Sunny Lane. The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that a Ford Explorer traveling west on U.S 13 veered across the center line, colliding with an eastbound 2025 International tractor-trailer. The impact caused the Ford Explorer to run off the road and hit a ditch, where it came to a stop. The driver of the Ford Explorer was thrown from the vehicle and died on impact. The tractor-trailer ended up on the shoulder of the eastbound lane, with the driver sustaining minor injuries and being transported to a hospital. The authorities had not identified the Ford Explorer's driver by Tuesday afternoon, and efforts to reach his family are ongoing.
