Fatal accident closes section of State Road 15 in DeLand
A tragic incident occurred in DeLand as a man lost his life on Friday when his vehicle collided with a railroad crossing support pole, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal crash took place at the junction of Spring Garden Avenue (State Road 15) and Cranleigh Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. The FHP's report indicates that the 43-year-old driver of a Toyota Camry veered off course while on SR-15, striking the pole supporting the railroad crossing gate. The impact caused the car to spin in a counter-clockwise direction, resulting in the man's death at the scene. Consequently, a section of SR-15 has been closed in both directions for cleanup operations while authorities investigate the incident further.
