Fatal accident closes section of SR-15 in Deland

A fatal accident led to the closure of part of SR-15 (North Spring Garden Avenue) in DeLand early on Friday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. close to Cranleigh Avenue. The authorities stated that a 43-year-old man was operating a 1997 Toyota Camry heading north on SR-15 when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road to the left, and entered the median. The car collided with a railroad crossing gate arm support pole, causing it to turn. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The closure of SR-15 remains in place in the vicinity until the investigation is concluded, with drivers being redirected to Woodland Boulevard (US-17/92). The details of the crash are currently being scrutinized by officials.
