Fatal accident at Las Vegas homeless area

In southeast Las Vegas, a tragic incident occurred on Friday night when an impaired driver crashed into a homeless encampment, hitting and killing a pedestrian. The driver, 24-year-old Elijah Brown, was identified at the scene and was found to be exhibiting signs of impairment. Despite suffering only minor injuries, Brown was arrested on suspicion of DUI and reckless driving. The collision happened around 7:20 p.m. near East Warm Springs Road, east of South Topaz Street. The driver's vehicle veered into the center turn lane, struck a median, crossed all eastbound lanes, and then hit the south sidewalk before crashing into the encampment where the pedestrian was located. Tragically, the pedestrian, a 61-year-old man from Las Vegas, was declared deceased at the scene. The incident is currently being investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section, and the driver is facing charges related to the collision.
