Elderly woman dies 2 weeks after collision with suspended driver.
An 85-year-old woman who was involved in a car accident at the end of August has passed away from her injuries, two weeks following the crash. Authorities reported that the incident occurred on NE Airport Way on August 22nd at approximately 1:30 p.m. when a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe driver lost control of his vehicle, colliding head-on with a 2021 Kia Soul being driven by Ruthellen Tromsness from Gresham. Although initial reports indicated that her injuries were not life-threatening, tragically, she succumbed to them on September 9th. The driver of the Tahoe was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license. This incident was recorded as the 28th traffic-related fatality of the year in Portland, though further fatalities have brought the total to 40 as per police reports.
