Early morning wrong-way crash on I-90 leaves one dead, one injured

One person is dead and another is seriously hurt after a wrong-way crash early Sunday morning in Albany. On June 7, at about 1:53 a.m., troopers responded to I-90 westbound in the area of exit 5A for report of a two-car head-on collision. The investigation determined that a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes struck a westbound vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. I-90 westbound was closed between exit 6 and 5A for the investigation and collision reconstruction. All lanes were reopened at approximately 6:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
