E-biker, 21, dies 5 days after Huntington Beach crash

A 21-year-old died five days after an e-bike crash in Huntington Beach, authorities say.  According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the crash, which only involved the e-biker, occurred on July 21 around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Warner Avenue and Plaza Lane.   First responders rushed to the scene and found the 21-year-old e-biker, a resident of Westminster, on the sidewalk next to the road.  He was transported to a hospital for medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries and died on Sunday, Huntington Beach police confirmed.   “Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the e-bike was westbound on Warner Avenue west of Plaza Lane when the rider lost control and went down,” police explained. “It is unknown if impairment was a factor with the rider of the e-bike.”  Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator Vishal Rattanchandani: 714-536-5231.  The collision investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
