E-bike rider injured in crash near Dunkin' during morning rush hour

An e-bike rider was injured in a crash during the Tuesday morning rush hour in Haverhill, Massachusetts, according to police.The crash happened around 8:20 a.m. on a busy stretch of Amesbury Road between a Mobil gas station and a Dunkin'. Surveillance video captured the moment an e-bike and a black SUV collided, causing the rider to fall to the ground. Police said the e-bike rider, a man in his 50s, has serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was initially taken to a local hospital and then flown to a Boston hospital.Paul Patel, who operates the Mobil station nearby, said traffic in the area is often congested."Dunkin' traffic is always backed up," Patel said. "Drive-through lines are always hectic on that side."Reconstruction teams from both the Massachusetts State Police and the Haverhill Police Department remained on scene throughout the morning investigating the crash.The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.Officials said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene.
