DUI driver causes collision on HWY 101 by Santa Maria

On Wednesday evening, emergency responders attended a collision involving a driver going the wrong way on Highway 101. The incident occurred near Santa Maria, specifically on the southbound side of Highway 101 just north of Highway 166 at around 6 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that a gray Honda sedan was heading in the wrong direction and collided with another vehicle, resulting in minor injuries. Traffic was briefly disrupted for about 15 minutes as both lanes were blocked to clear the vehicles. The road was fully reopened by 7:15 p.m. CHP officials suspect that alcohol might have contributed to the crash.
