Driver seriously injured, crash ties up traffic on West Jefferson Boulevard
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Police Department investigated a crash Friday morning that left a person with serious injuries. It happened near the intersection of West Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road. Police responded to the crash around 7:25 a.m. Dispatchers for the Fort Wayne Police Department confirmed two vehicles were involved, and a person suffered injuries. A preliminary investigation determined that one vehicle was heading west on Jefferson and the other heading east when that driver attempted to turn left onto Getz. That's when the two vehicles collided. It's not known which driver had the right of way. One of the vehicles ended up in a Walgreens parking lot. That driver, only identified as an 18-year-old woman, was hurt, although the severity of her injuries is not known. It's not known the extent of injuries to the other driver. A portion of southbound Getz Road was temporarily closed near Covington Road while crews cleaned up the crash.
