Driver killed, passenger injured in Las Vegas ATV accident
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- An ATV rider was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the northern part of Las Vegas near APEX, according to Las Vegas Metro police. The crash took place on March 5 at 8:30 p.m., on Clark Petersen Boulevard, east of North Las Vegas Boulevard. Evidence at the scene indicated a 2018 Can-Am Maverick X3 was traveling southbound on Clark Petersen Boulevard and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Cam-Am left the roadway to the left and struck a cement barrier. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the desert area east of the roadway. Both occupants were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for further medical attention. The driver, who was identified by police as Michael Montague, 47, of North Las Vegas, was later pronounced dead. The passenger was treated for minor injuries and released. This case was reviewed at both the state and federal levels. The driver’s death marks the 30th traffic-related fatality within the Las Vegas area. The crash remains under investigation by police.
