Driver killed in rollover crash in Del Mar
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are investigating a fatal rollover crash that claimed the life of a driver Monday night in Del Mar. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded around 10:24 p.m. to reports of a solo vehicle crash near the 1900 block of Jimmy Durante Boulevard. Preliminary information indicates an unidentified adult male was driving a 2014 Mercedes SUV when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck construction equipment. The impact caused the SUV to overturn. Despite life-saving efforts,, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the cause of the crash remains under investigation. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The North Coastal Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
