Driver injured and dairy spilled in Wisconsin milk truck accident
A milk tanker rollover crash in western Wisconsin left one person injured on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred on Highway 33 in Monroe County, just outside Cashton. The tanker failed to navigate a curve and tipped over into a ditch, resulting in emergency personnel needing over an hour to extricate the driver, a 22-year-old man from Florida. The driver was then transported to a hospital for treatment. The crash caused the spillage of around 3,000 gallons of milk and 100 gallons of diesel fuel, prompting efforts to prevent the liquids from reaching a nearby creek. Despite snowy road conditions, crews will continue the operation to remove the milk tanker from the ditch on Thursday afternoon. While the sheriff's office did not confirm if road conditions contributed to the crash, images from the scene showed the snow-covered highway during the response. The extent of the driver's injuries was not disclosed.
