Driver in fatal hit-and-run in Vegas identified by police

Las Vegas police have identified the individual responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident that took place in May. Stephon Watkins, 37, was apprehended in Sacramento, California, and has been taken to the Clark County Detention Center. Watkins faces charges of hit-and-run and reckless driving following the occurrence on May 30, 2025, at the intersection of West Flamingo Road and South Las Vegas Boulevard. Authorities reported that Watkins was driving a 2016 BMW X5 when he struck a 29-year-old man crossing the road. He fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle nearby. Tragically, the pedestrian was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the accident site. According to a post on the department's social media, this incident marks the 70th fatal collision in the Las Vegas valley in 2025.
