Driver ejected, dies after stolen vehicle crashes, Greensboro police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro police are investigating a Friday night crash that left a juvenile driver dead. According to a news release, at around 7:09 p.m., officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle parked at the Refuel gas station in the 2400 block of East Market Street. The driver ignored the officers' commands before speeding away, which is when a female fell out of the passenger side and onto the pavement. Officers attempted to pursue the vehicle and found it had crashed in the 1200 block of Huffine Mill Road. The driver was ejected in the crash. They were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, but they died due to their injuries. The female passenger had minor injuries and was not transported by EMS. The GPD will conduct an internal investigation to determine whether policies were followed. The officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative duty pending the investigation.
