The driver of the Chevrolet pickup drifted out of his lane and hit a highway attenuator, a crash cushion designed to absorb impact. That's when the Dodge pickup redirected and struck the side of the Chevrolet pickup. Both trucks continued onto the outside shoulder and caught fire. The Chevrolet driver was able to escape. But the Dodge driver was unable to get out and died at the scene, police said. Officers said they evaluated the Chevrolet driver at the scene and found him to be intoxicated.
