Driver dies after car veers into the path of a semi and SUV
HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A Kokomo woman died Tuesday morning and a child in her car was flown to a hospital after a collision with a semi and an SUV. Officers with the Indiana State Police, the Howard County Sheriff's Office and the Greentown Police Department responded to the crash shortly before 10 a.m. on State Road 22 near County Road 1350 E. The initial investigation revealed the woman - later identified as 35-year-old Brittani Duncan - was driving west on SR 22 when the car crossed the center line for an unknown reason, according to the press release from ISP. Her car crashed into a semi and then the SUV. Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howard County Coroner's Office. The child was flown to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the release. An ambulance took the driver of the SUV to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not hurt. Although the cause of the crash was not revealed, ISP did say neither alcohol nor narcotics were suspected factors. Snowy weather conditions swept across the region Monday and Tuesday, leading to reports of several crashes on slick roads closer to Fort Wayne.
