Driver dies after car overturns on I-270 in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A driver died after their car overturned on Interstate 270 near Montrose Road on Saturday morning, police said. Maryland State Police said troopers responded to the crash just after 9:15 a.m. in the area of northbound I-270 and Montrose Road. There, responders found a Lexus sedan turned on its side, crashed into the highway's median. The driver, who was the only person inside the vehicle at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene. State police said the initial investigation indicates that the driver of the Lexus lost control of the vehicle before the crash took place. At this time, police have not publicly released the identity of the driver who died. Following the deadly collision, several lanes on the roadway remained closed into the afternoon. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
