Driver crashes SUV through fence; Vehicle drops onto MBTA tracks
A driver crashed a sport utility vehicle through a fence and down an embankment before the vehicle landed 30 feet below on MBTA tracks in Beverly, Massachusetts, early Saturday, officials said. The incident happened at 2 a.m. near River Street in Beverly. Beverly Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Smith said the driver was walking around near his SUV when they arrived at the scene. He was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation. The fire department worked with the MBTA and Keolis to remove the SUV from the tracks.Service on the Commuter Rail did not appear to be impacted by the crash.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
