Driver and horse both die after collision in Madison County
A driver and a horse were killed after colliding with each other in Madison County. The New York State Police on July 22, around 9:21 p.m., responded to Lebanon Road near Bonny Road in the Town of Lebanon for a report of a crash involving a horse. A preliminary investigation determined that the driver, Janet L. Schwaner, 72, of Wellesley, Mass., was driving east in a 2021 Mazda CX-5 on Lebanon Road when she struck a horse that was running in the eastbound lane. Schwaner and the horse both died at the scene. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
