Douglas County deputies investigate fatal motorcycle crash on Roberts Creek Road
A missing-person report Thursday evening led Douglas County sheriff’s deputies to a fatal motorcycle crash along Roberts Creek Road in the Green District. On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at about 6 p.m., deputies received a report from a woman who said her son, 24-year-old Jarod Michael Whitlock of Roseburg, was missing after he failed to report to work for two days. While investigating Whitlock’s whereabouts, deputies found him dead in the 8700 block of Roberts Creek Road shortly after 8 p.m. Investigators determined Whitlock had been riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Roberts Creek Road after traveling from Gateway Road. Evidence at the scene indicated the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and traveled about 50 yards from the road. Whitlock was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Central Douglas Fire and Rescue. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Whitlock’s family and friends.
