Deputies: Woman killed, man hospitalized after head-on collision in Butler County
A woman has died after a head-on collision on Thursday morning in Hanover Township, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.Deputies say they were dispatched to State Route 177, just south of Vizedom Road, around 6:52 a.m. Thursday. Officials say they determined the crash to be deadly upon arrival at the scene.According to deputies, a 2011 Kia Soul was traveling northbound on SR 177 and crossed left of center, hitting a 2011 Jeep Cherokee head-on.Both vehicles sustained "extensive" front-end damage, deputies say.The driver of the Kia, identified only as a 29-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the Butler County coroner will identify her "at a later date."BCSO says the driver of the Jeep, identified only as a 20-year-old man, self-transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Deputies did not disclose the extent of the driver's injuries.The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff's Office Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
