Deputies ID woman killed in Willamette River boat crash at Sauvie Island on Fourth of July

Deputies have identified the 25-year-old Portland woman who died in a boat crash on the Willamette River on the Fourth of July. Reports came in shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 saying a boat had run ashore on Sauvie Island near the 14900 block of Northwest Gillihan Road. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Sauvie Island Fire Department, and American Medical Response all rushed to the scene. They arrived to find Rosalyn Albornoz Lopez, 25, of Portland, dead at the scene. The boat’s operator, a 51-year-old man, and three other passengers – women ages 21, 23, and 24 – were all taken to the hospital. All four are expected to survive. Crash investigators say the 33-foot cabin cruiser struck part of an aluminum walkway connected to a dock, which was anchored by several large pilings.
