Deputies: 3 people dead following wrong-way crash on I-96
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) has confirmed three people were killed in a wrong-way crash on I-96 in Wright Township Friday morning. At around 3:25 a.m. deputies responded to reports of a wrong way driver coming westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-96. Deputies arrived to find a two vehicle head on collision just West of exit 23 on the eastbound side. Both vehicles were mid sized SUVs, according to the sheriff's office. The wrong way driver, a 24-year-old man died on the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said the two occupants in the second SUV also died on the scene. The driver a 53-year-old Muskegon woman and the passenger a 50-year-old Muskegon man. Traffic services, drone units, and CST responded, and documented the scene. Notifications are pending. The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
