Deadly pedestrian accident under investigation in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of a deadly pedestrian-involved traffic accident that happened in the 3600 block of Peach Orchard Road. At approximately 10:00 p.m., deputies and emergency personnel responded to a call of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. When they got there, deputies found a person who died as a result of the collision. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Motorists in the area should expect delays and are encouraged to avoid the area if possible while deputies conduct their investigation. This is a developing story.
