Deadly motorcycle crash shuts down all northbound I-5 lanes in North Portland

A deadly motorcycle crash during the Thursday afternoon commute has all northbound Interstate 5 lanes closed in North Portland for a crash investigation. The crash happened around 5 p.m. just north of N. Lombard Street, near the 206A exit and N. Columbia Boulevard. Portland Police officers say they arrived to find a collision between a motorcyclist and a driver. Community members started first-aid before Emergency Medical Services could get to the crash scene, however, the motorcycle rider died. I-5 northbound is closed between North Lombard Street and Columbia Boulevard, with drivers being rerouted off the freeway at the Lombard exit. There is no estimated time for when the Major Crash Team's investigation will conclude and the northbound lanes will reopen. "The closure is likely to last multiple hours," Portland Police said. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with Portland Police's investigation. This is a developing story. Check back with KATU for updates.
