Deadly crash shuts down part of SR-46 in Mims
One person is dead and another person is seriously hurt after a crash in Mims. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 Tuesday morning at the intersection of State Road 46 and Morgan Alderman Road in Volusia County.Troopers say two cars were involved in the crash including a 2026 Ford Explorer and a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander. FHP says the driver of the Ford Explorer, a 36-year-old man from Lake Mary, was not injured and stayed at the scene.The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a passenger in the Outlander was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.SR-46 is shut down between South Jungle Road and Hatbill Road as troopers investigate.The cause of the crash is under investigation.
