Deadly accident on Hwy 75 due to icy conditions

The recent winter weather event in early December led to a significant increase in traffic accidents in various locations across Green Country and Oklahoma, according to Captain Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported responding to 101 injury crashes, including two fatal wrecks, between midnight and 9:00 a.m. One of the fatal accidents involved a 44-year-old woman named Ashlea Justice, who lost control of her vehicle on Highway 75 and tragically succumbed to her injuries. Captain Meulenberg expressed surprise at the high number of incidents caused by the adverse weather conditions, emphasizing the importance of adjusting driving behavior accordingly. The captain advised drivers to reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns to navigate safely on slick roads.
