Danbury woman killed after crash into vacant Ridgefield building Sunday, police say

RIDGEFIELD — A Connecticut woman died after the SUV she was operating crashed into a vacant Route 7 building Sunday evening, police said. The woman was identified as 32-year-old Nehemias Muruzumbay of Danbury, according to Ridgefield police Capt. John Knoche. Officers responded to the single-car crash in the 700 block of Danbury Road around 7 p.m., Knoche said. Muruzumbay lost control of the southbound the Honda CR-V she was driving, near the Danbury line, Knoche said. Muruzumbay was taken to an area hospital following the crash with serious injuries, and later died, Knoche said. Knoche said the building that was struck sustained structural damage. The department's Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, and Route 7 was shut down for several hours, fully reopening around 1 a.m. Monday, Knoche said. Police ask anyone with information on the fatal crash to call RPD Lt. James Van Wattum at 203-438-6531.
