Cyclist critically injured in Bentonville collision, police say
A cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday after a collision with a truck and trailer on South Walton Boulevard, according to the Bentonville Police Department.Police said officers with the department's Traffic Division responded to the crash at about 12:53 p.m. near the intersection of South Walton Boulevard and Southwest Eighth Street.According to a news release, the collision occurred in the outside northbound lane of South Walton Boulevard when a cyclist entered the roadway and collided with a truck and trailer traveling northbound.The cyclist was transported for medical treatment and is listed in stable but critical condition, police said.A preliminary investigation found the cyclist was traveling on a sidewalk north of the Southwest Eighth Street intersection when the rider lost control of the bicycle and entered the roadway, where the collision occurred, according to police.No additional information about the cyclist or the driver was immediately available.
