Crash in Menlo Park downs power line on Ravenswood, people asked to avoid area

(BCN) -- People are being asked to avoid a stretch of Ravenswood Avenue in Menlo Park on Friday morning after a vehicle crashed into a power line. The Menlo Park Police Department issued an alert at about 10:45 a.m. and asked people to stay away from Ravenswood between Alma and Laurel streets. The crash is expected to cause traffic backups and detours for an undetermined amount of time. PG&E has turned off power in surrounding areas as a safety precaution, an outage that appears to be impacting about 3,000 customers, according to the utility's website. Police also said multiple traffic signals are not functioning in the area because of the outages. No time was given for when power might be restored. Copyright © 2026 Bay City News, Inc.
