Crash forces closure of NB SR 347 near Cement Plant Road on Thursday morning
A section of State Route 347 experienced a temporary closure on Thursday morning near Cement Plant Road, just north of Maricopa, following a collision. The closure affected the northbound lanes of traffic and was monitored by Arizona Department of Transportation officials. The incident, which involved a semi-truck and a motorcycle, resulted in a fatality at the scene. Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers supported Gila River Police Department in investigating the crash that occurred around 5 a.m. Additionally, another collision involving a school bus was reported east of SR 347 near Casa Blanca Road, but fortunately, no students were on board during the incident. An earlier version of the news incorrectly stated that the SR 347 crash involved a school bus; however, it has been revised to accurately reflect the Gila River Police Department's clarification.
