Crash closes I-64 East in Winchester: Here’s what we know

WINCHESTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — The eastbound lanes of I-64 in Winchester are currently blocked following a crash in the area, according to law enforcement. On April 28, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's live traffic map shows heavy congestion on I-64 East near mile marker 98. Local authorities said the area would be closed for "an unknown amount of time." The Kentucky State Police (KSP) announced around 5 a.m. that the delay would last at least two hours. Drivers across the state were urged to travel with caution after overnight storms left debris across the state's roads. Crews remain in the area working to clear the highway for traffic. FOX 56 News has reached out to state police to learn more about the crash, and information will be provided as it becomes available. By 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, while no official announcement has been made that the area has reopened, eastbound traffic in the area has become far less congested, according to KYTC traffic cameras. This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 56 News for updates.
