Court docs: 8 struck in crash at Murphy’s Irish Pub in Virginia Beach
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY)-- Eight people were struck during a crash Friday evening at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, court documents revealed. Ailani Roundtree, 21, is accused of injuring multiple people after crashing into the fenced outdoor patio of Murphy’s Irish Pub, at the corner of Pacific Avenue and 30th Street, just before 8 p.m. According to court documents, one person had major injuries, including multiple pelvic fractures, a broken left tibula, a dislocated ankle and multiple deep wounds to the right leg. Three patients had minor injuries, including two with abrasions on their legs and arms and one with lacerations to the face and left shoulder. Three additional people were assessed on-scene but refused additional treatment. Documents revealed Roundtree was seen on camera exiting a parking garage. A friend was driving in front of Rountree and paid the fee to exit the garage when Roundtree quickly drove out behind them to bypass paying the fee. Camera footage also captured Roundtree making a left turn then driving straight into the business. Documents also revealed that Roundtree admitted to having one drink and driving recklessly. Roundtree stated the vehicle belonged to a friend. One additional person was in car at the time of the crash but did not suffer any injuries. Documents did not state if the driver was injuried. Roundtree is due to appear in front of a judge for a bond hearing in Virginia Beach General District Court Wednesday morning.
