Clinton County law enforcement: Shots fired at vehicle involved in fatal crash
CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — Law enforcement is investigating a crash that left a person dead in Clinton County on Saturday night. According to a release, deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Frankfort Police Department responded to the 800 block of County Road 200 West around 9:17 p.m. to investigate a single-vehicle crash. When police arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle that appeared to have been driven into a field west of the roadway. Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined a person was inside the vehicle in question. Clinton County EMS and the Frankfort Fire Department responded to the scene before the vehicle's occupant was pronounced deceased. Police have indicated that they recovered evidence at the scene that suggested shots were fired at the crashed vehicle at some point. The crash scene was located along FPD and CCSO's jurisdictional boundaries. The sheriff's office is taking the lead on the investigation, but FPD officers will be providing assistance to deputies. FPD and CCSO reported that the Clinton County Coroner's Office will be the agency responsible for releasing the decedent's name and cause of death.
