Churchville man charged in fatal crash on I-90
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Churchville man is facing several charges after New York State Police said he hit and killed a Syracuse man on the I-90 in the town of Stafford Friday night. NYSP said the crash happened around 8:50 p.m. Friday near Mile Marker 384 on the I-90. According to investigators, 67-year-old Patrick Hastings of Churchville was driving east on the I-90 when he hit a pick-up truck from behind causing the truck to be overturned. The driver of the pick-up truck, 56-year-old Scott Berberian of Syracuse, was ejected from his seat and declared dead at the scene. State Police said Hastings failed field sobriety tests and gave a breath sample of 0.08% blood alcohol concentration. Hastings has been charged with second degree Vehicular Manslaughter and Driving While Intoxicated along with other traffic offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
