CHP reports driver killed in crash on Highway 36 near Paynes Creek
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Red Bluff has announced a fatal crash Friday, June 12, on Highway 36. The driver of a gray Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on Highway 36, east of Paynes Creek when the vehicle drifted off the roadway and crashed into a tree. While the driver was the only person in the vehicle, CHP said his dog was also inside at the time of the crash. The dog's condition is unknown. The crash occurred between Oasis Springs Ranch Road and Canyon Overlook. CHP reported that the driver died in the crash. Both directions of Highway 36 have reopened, according to CHP.
